"Twenty years from now you will be more dissappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
-Mark Twain-
TRIBES AND CULTURES
There are an estimated 120 tribes in Tanzania. They are classified into 6 ethnic groups based on their physical characteristics, language, social organization and traditions. They are the Bushman, Nilotic, Hamitic, Nilo-Hamitic, Bantu and Iraqw.
Engaging with them and learning about their believes and their relationship with nature is a way of opening our minds to other visions of the world.
Naturalia Safari has partnered with Maasai who run a unique lodge located between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro so you can share the life of this iconic East African tribe. All profits from the Lodge go to support health and education projects near the area. We also organize trips to visit other tribes, including the Hadzabe, the last full-time hunter gatherers in Africa.
For as long as I can remember, I have been passionately intrigued by 'Africa,' by the word itself, by its flora and fauna, its topographical diversity and grandeur; but above all else, by the sheer variety of the colors of its people, from tan and sepia to jet and ebony.
